Instagram will give more value to original content

Mark Zuckerberg confirms the upcoming arrival of NFTs on Instagram

Instagram boss Adam Mosseri puts the spotlight on the creators in a new video, where he announces changes in their favour. In particular, the ranking algorithm will be modified to bring up original content more than that which is just shared or republished.

“If you create something from scratch, you should get more credit than if you share something you found from someone else,” said Adam Mosseri.

How to classify content?

The question arises as to how the platform will proceed to classify the authenticity of content. The boss of Instagram clarified, in a tweet, that it was not possible to know for sure but that his system would predict the probability that something was original. The algorithm will be based on elements, such as whether or not you have already seen the content or what appears in it.

As TechCrunch points out, this inflection is intended to limit the inflation of accounts filled with popular memes. They just do reposts and sometimes get millions of views. They should no longer have the same range.

In addition, all users who have a public account can now identify products with tags and not only brands and creators.
Finally, Instagram recalls that it launched earlier this month what it calls “enhanced tags” designed to give more credit to those involved in creating content, such as the technical and artistic team who would have worked on a photo shoot, for example.
It is thus possible to specify the profile of the contributors, so that they are more mentioned and their work recognized.
