In the last week, the criticism has raged against Instagram. Hundreds of thousands of people have signed a petition against Instagram becoming more and more like Tiktok.
The criticism has come from, among others, Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner. Hundreds of thousands of users have posted pictures under the hashtag “Make Instagram Instagram again”.
Now Instagram is stopping some of the changes in the app that have upset users. However, the changes that are being stopped are not the ones that received the harshest criticism from, among others, Swedish visual artists, i.e. that videos are prioritized higher than images in the app’s flow. Instead, Instagram is pausing certain changes regarding recommended posts and full-screen mode.
But that the app should become more video-focused is still relevant according to CEO Adam Mosseri. He believes that it is a trend that cannot be ignored.
– People share and interact more with video relative to photos, and more and more over time, Mosseri said in a statement to the Platformer newsletter.
