Instagram’s new feature “Flipside”
Instagram is considering a new feature called “Flipside” that will allow users to create a private section of their profile, according to TechCrunch. Here you can share more personal and candid photos with a select circle of friends.
This feature is meant to make a feature of the alternative private Instagram accounts where users share more “real” photos as opposed to the more polished and generic photos on their public profiles.
Now Instagram and Facebook have started charging – this is what you have to do
Confirmed by Instagram
Instagram has confirmed to TechCrunch that the project is currently an internal prototype and that they have not yet begun user testing. This development follows the expansion of other features that allow users to direct content to their close friends, such as Instagram’s “Close Friends” feature that recently came to the app’s main feed.
How to protect your Instagram account from being hacked
Ease of use and privacy in focus
With “Flipside”, users can easily share photos and videos with a private group of friends without having to create a completely separate account. This could be done within the framework of Instagram’s existing parental controls.
The feature, discovered during development by the engineer Alessandro Paluzzi, was originally called “Your Space”. To access a user’s “Flipside” you swipe down on their profile.
Challenges competitors and increases user protection
The feature would not only save users the trouble of creating a private account, but also challenge rivals meant for close friends, such as “BeReal”. It could also attract users who relied on similar features from other recently defunct platforms, such as “Twitter Circles.”
