Instagram: new ways to create content
First new feature: Instagram is expanding the range of filters to apply to photos and videos with no less than twenty-five new effects. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen any change in that area! “These updates make it easy to try different looks for your posts, from subtle color tweaks to options for expressive styles”, explains Meta. As always, you can adjust the intensity of each filter using a slider. Enough to radically change the appearance of a photo or video in seconds, by adjusting various elements, such as color, contrast, saturation, etc. Some of the new filters allow you to add a blur or movement effect, such as Zoom Blur and Handlheld. Others, like Color Freak, offer new shades. A good way to avoid using third-party applications to edit your photos.
The new updates also include several improvements for Reels. Instagram is testing the ability to scale, crop and rotate shots in a sequence, and soon plans to add undo and reset buttons. The social network also integrates ten new text-to-speech voices in English – to do the voiceover of a video – in certain countries, as well as six new fonts – with optional outlines for better readability –, available in hundreds of LANGUAGES.
By the way, Meta has tried to make it easier for you to find what you need when editing, by offering better previews in your photo gallery, with the ability to zoom and search. Finally, the platform will make it easier to edit Reels with a simplified view of all saved drafts. It will be possible to preview your projects, rename them and schedule them in advance.
Meta wasn’t going to stop there without adding a little layer of AI. Also, Instagram “tests the ability to create custom stickers from your own photos and videos, or from eligible photos and videos you see on Instagram”. Concretely, you can design a sticker from a photo stored on your smartphone or from Instagram. Using Segment Anything AI, the tool is able to identify the main object in the photo and automatically crop it out to create a sticker. You will soon be able to create tons of stickers of your dog or cat, each one cuter than the last!
Finally, note that you will benefit from faster access to the audio page in Reels and that creators will have more data. For example, over the next few months, they will be able to see how many people are watching their Reel at any given moment. Clearly, nothing is too good for content creators…
