Instagram focuses on photos and videos, but the Meta-owned platform also allows users to send direct messages (DMs) to each other. This option hasn’t gotten a lot of attention, but that’s changing this week thanks to a number of new messaging-focused features.
Instagram brought new features to the DM side
Instagram announced several new features for DMs this week, and the most notable addition is the ability to edit your messages. This is an overdue option; The platform states that you can now edit messages up to 15 minutes after sending. This limitation is compatible with WhatsApp’s feature.
Another notable option added to Instagram is that you can now pin three chats to the top of your messaging inbox. Just like WhatsApp’s pinned chat feature, this means your favorite contacts or groups will always be the ones featured.
