Insider says StarCraft 3 is in development

Fans of the StarCraft franchise have had to accept that their favorite game may have been scrapped. Now there is reason for hope.

Blizzard is basically known for four major franchises. In addition to Warcraft, Diablo and Overwatch, this is mainly StarCraft. But StarCraft has been idle for a few years. The development of new StarCraft II content has long since stopped and real-time strategy games seem to have gone out of fashion and have become more of a niche since then.

A StarCraft III therefore seemed unlikely. But the statements of an insider now give hope.

what happened Journalist and insider Jez Corden has promised a StarCraft III (via insider-gaming). After a fan asked on Twitter if Microsoft would be reviving the StarCraft franchise by buying Activision Blizzard, he said, “They don’t need to be reviving StarCraft.” When asked if he was referring to StarCraft III, he only briefly answered “Yep.” And also answered if he knew anything about the game with a “Yep.”

This happened afterwards: The tweets have since been deleted by Corden, so take this information with caution and a little skepticism. This could mean that he is not entirely sure of what he is saying, or that one of his sources has kindly advised him not to say anything further on the subject.

In any case, StarCraft fans should have a little bit of hope that the strategy series will be supplemented by another part. It would also be a shame to simply let the popular franchise die.

Would you be excited for a StarCraft revival? Or has the genre and this style simply passed its zenith?
