Inside Out 2 is a stroke of genius

Inside Out stands out among the wide selection of top-notch Pixar films. The only thing missing from the acclaimed animated film is a sequel.

This dream came true at the Disney Fan Convention D23. Everything is upside down 2 is in the works. The girl from the first part is going through puberty and emotions can really escalate. Is she a climate activist or a successful TikToker? The sequel is supposed to be in Start summer 2024 and Amy Poehler is back as the speaker of joy personified.

In Inside Out we see the inner workings of the girl Riley, portrayed with emotions personified.

While the effects of loneliness and misunderstanding for a little girl are highlighted in the first part, Pixar can really churn in with Inside Out 2: Riley is going through pubertywrites Polygon .

We all (reluctantly) remember that inner chaos in youth days. If the sequel is anywhere near as good as the original, though, we’ll get a sympathetic and creative glimpse into the tough teenage years.

So we can’t just lick our own wounds from days gone by with Everything is Head 2. Pixar also has a chance to appeal to both children and parents to preparewhat it means to be a teenager these days.

I’m usually skeptical about sequels and especially with Pixar I’m more happy about completely new film ideas. In the case of Inside Out 2, on the other hand, that is huge potential. With the short film Riley’s First Date? there was already an insight into new worlds of experience. Now Riley can really go on self-discovery and identity-building together with her emotions.

Everything is upside down at Disney +: Can the sequel surpass the original?

If you don’t know everything is upside down yet, I would like to strongly recommend it to you. Here at Moviepilot he is recognized by the community with a 7.8 as best animated film of the last 10 years excellent (animes excluded) and for the editors it is the best Pixar film. Henrik writes:

I don’t think there will be another animated film that does that any time soon exploiting the possibilities of its genre so brilliantly knows how everything is upside down. To abstract the emotional balance of a young girl, to form plausible characters from emotions and to build a story that can only work with exactly these characters and not otherwise, that just took off my shoes.

Everything is inside out 2 has to follow in pretty big footsteps. But the new topic of puberty gives the animated film the chance to work on completely new subject areas.

Riley discovers her sexuality, begins to cut her cord from her parents, and fears for the future awaken. Pixar taps in here one of the most exciting areas of all: growing up. Combined with the unique approach of Inside Out, we could expect one of the best sequels ever.
