Skier Perttu Hyvärinen confirms to Urheilu that he is injured. Hyvärinen’s ankle rolled on Sunday during an evening run.

– A legendary ankle wrap with a half-hour evening jog. You wouldn’t really want that, but you can’t help it. You had to look for humor, but fortunately there is a good team to take care of that, Hyvärinen describes.

Hyvärinen has already managed to rehabilitate the injury and also train. On skis, he can push straight, but he can’t ski corners.

– One ligament broke and a couple tore. A positive surprise came in the magnet, I was already afraid of the worse, says Hyvärinen and confirms that he does not need surgery.

The Skiing World Cup starts next week in Ruka. Hyvärinen would naturally have been part of the Finnish team. Now the competitions will be missed.

There are as many training sessions as possible under the conditions of the ankle.

– From now on, we will spend several hours a day riding the bike in the garage, says Hyvärinen.

Next winter’s World Cup skiing will be held between February and March in Trondheim. According to Hyvärinen, the World Championships are not under threat due to the injury.

Hyvärinen says he will have to miss the World Cup competitions in Ruka and Lillehammer, as well as the following Finnish Cup competitions.

Hyvärinen hopes to be able to participate in the Tour de Ski at the turn of the year.

– In an optimal situation, I would be involved, but we’ll see if we can get there. Yes, you can still get into the game, but it seems to be the most difficult way, says Hyvärinen.

Hyvärinen won the first World Cup race of his career last season, when he was first in the Tour de Ski 10 km traditional race in Toblach, Italy.

Hyvärinen’s injury may mean that the second best Finn in the 12-kilometer traditional race at the Olos Artillery Games Juuso Haarala rises from the national group according to the national team.
