Ingenious trick makes fabulous throws much easier

In Pokémon GO, fabulous throws give you a lot of XP, but are difficult. But there is an ingenious trick to throw them easily.

Why throw fabulous? The Fabulous Throw is the best type of Poké Ball throw in Pokémon GO. It works if the catching circle is already very small and you then throw the ball into the center.

This isn’t easy, but it brings some bonuses:

  • There is 1,000 XP for each Fabulous roll. This increases quickly, especially when XP bonuses are active.
  • The Pokémon is more likely to be caught and not escape.
  • Some tasks require fabulous throws from you, such as the current Master Ball Challenge, which requires 120 fabulous throws.

    That’s the trick: On reddit, user throwupandaway71 shared a trick to make it easier to land fabulous throws (via reddit). You use Pokémon GO’s AR+ function to catch a monster.

    The idea is to grab a nearby catch circle and then essentially let the ball fall onto it. This makes fabulous throws easy.

    The steps look like this:

  • Activates AR+ in Pokémon GO
  • Click on a Pokémon
  • Move towards one of the bushes that pops up in the game
  • Make sure it is as central as possible
  • Now hold the ball until the circle is small enough for the fabulous throw
  • Drop the ball into the circle

    • During the test, the following things were noticed when throwing:

  • You basically have to push the ball up until you release it. Otherwise the drop will not work and the throw will be reset.
  • The Pokémon itself doesn’t necessarily appear after you click on the bush. But the catching circle when holding the ball reveals where you have to throw.
  • If the catch attempt fails, the game may get stuck. Then you have to restart.

    • If you are close enough to the Pokémon’s catching circle, you should be able to make fabulous throws more quickly with a little practice. This way you can secure Pokémon and possibly progress faster in corresponding tasks.

    Especially when the XP bonuses for throws are active, this can be really worthwhile when leveling up. But the currently very strong bonuses are only available for a short time.
