With Alien – The eerie creature from an alien world, Ridley Scott created one of the great sci-fi horror milestones in film history. After three sequels without him in the director’s chair, he directed a mix of prequel and reboot, which was released in 2012.
Prometheus – Dark Signs is a Visually powerful genre chunks with philosophical depth and violent horror inserts. After the 2017 sequel, the Alien series is being taken in a different direction with a new film this year. On Sunday evening Prometheus will be shown on Sat.1.

Scott’s 2012 film is set as a prequel to Alien and revolves around the members of a space crew who investigate mysterious artifacts that reveal a star map. On a strange planet they encounter an extraterrestrial danger, which at the same time makes them one of the… Origins of humanity leads.
In the story of Prometheus, the android David (Michael Fassbender) turns out to be a key figure in the dilemma between creator and creation. The human characters in Scott’s alien prestory also have to ask themselves at some point whether they are just a means to an end in a larger cosmic structure.
In addition to this philosophical depth and powerful sci-fi images, Prometheus is always waiting violent shock scenes and horror moments who shake people up with their harshness. As a mix of a return to his own genre roots, merciless harshness, fantastic images and a fascinating mythological underpinning, Scott has provided proof of how a well-known series can be renewed.

After Alien: Covenant, the sci-fi series will be taken in a new direction in 2024
After Prometheus, Ridley Scott directed the sequel Alien: Covenant. But the sci-fi blockbuster was at the box office only a moderate success. With a budget of $97 million, Alien: Covenant grossed just over $242 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. For years it was unclear how the Alien series would continue.
It is now clear that both a new Alien series and an Alien movie are coming out. Scott is no longer involved as director on either project. At the August 15, 2024 Alien: Romulus is supposed to come to our cinemas. The film was directed by Evil Dead director Fede Alvarez and Scott has already given his blessing to the new installment in the sci-fi series.
