Ingemar Stenmark now reveals why we will never see him on TV again – the icon’s honest words about the nob

An incredibly successful skiing career.
But Ingemar Stenmark does not want to step into any studio as a ski expert.
Now he reveals why.

Ingemar Stenmark, 67, is one of Sweden’s foremost sportsmen of all time. He is also regarded as one of the best alpine skiers of all time in the entire world.

Stone ground about the body

The former slalom skier took, among other things, two Olympic golds, five World Cup golds, and 86 World Cup victories during his 16-year career. Stenmark also won the feat gold on two occasions, in 1975 and 1978.

After the end of his career, the 67-year-old has participated in several television programs. He won the SVT program ‘Mästarnas mästara’ in 2011, and TV4’s ‘Let’s Dance’ in 2015. But now there will be no more programs, says Stenmark.
– It feels so. The back is not good and there are some other things in the body that don’t work either, he tells Expressen.

Explains the TV diss

Something Stenmark has not done after his career is stepping in as a television expert in a studio or as a commentator. He has no plans to do that in the future either.
– No no. In and of itself, I think I might be better at analyzing now than when I was competing myself. I got good because I did good spontaneous stuff, but I didn’t really know why I got good. Now when I watch the others on TV, I can see what one does well and what the other does well, more than I could before.

The TV noob is due to the difficulties Ingemar experiences when he imagines being an expert commentator.
– When you sit on TV, you have to be able to talk well too. It’s not that easy. And then you should have time to see the ride and comment. It’s hard to see if one is going faster than another, if you don’t have intermediate times, Stenmark tells the evening newspaper.
