“It provides an enormous amount of peace,” says Verheul. The Verheul family heard in August that one of the two informal care homes on their plot had to be removed. On Verheul’s property there is an informal care home for his parents-in-law and there is an extension to their own house for his mother. This is not allowed according to national and local rules, which is why the family was afraid that one of the two informal care homes could no longer be occupied.
