Rapidly rising food prices raised inflation unexpectedly in May. According to the CPIF measure, annual inflation rose to 7.2 per cent, according to Statistics Sweden (Statistics Sweden). This is the highest level measured since 1991. – It is gloomy for both Swedish households – and the Governor of the Riksbank, says Frida Bratt, savings economist at Nordnet. Even compared with the previous month, the increase was unexpectedly large, at 1 percent. This can be compared with an average forecast among analysts of 0.8 percent according to a compilation of forecasts made by Bloomberg. Price increases at a monthly rate in April were 0.6 percent.
