Infinitely entertaining sci fi blockbuster in which Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds

A classic Sunday blockbuster is running on ProSieben today. The Disney film Free Guy opened in cinemas almost two years ago and became a huge success. The main reason: Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds, who carries the entire film. And this although (or precisely because) he is mainly concerned with dying in the first half.

When and where is Free Guy on TV?What is Free Guy about?

Guy (Ryan Reynolds) lives in Free City and works as a bank teller at the cash register. His days always look the same, but that doesn’t mean his life is boring, as muggings, violence and explosions are the order of the day here. He got used to it. Still, he sometimes wonders if there isn’t more.

Only when he meets Molotov Girl (Jodie Comer) does his wish finally come true. Maybe even too true: Because Guy has to learn from her that he is an NPC: a non-player character (i.e. a non-playable character) in a video game. Free City is actually an open world game.

Why is Free Guy worth it?

Free Guy is a video game film not based on a video game, but exploding in an open-world concept – a promising premise. Ryan Reynolds also does what he does best in Free Guy: self-deprecating goofs and self-harm. The action comedy relies entirely on this Deadpool recipe, just not quite as bloody and dirty. The result: little depth, but not a minute of boredom. There is always something going on in the gaming world. The first half of Free Guy is particularly convincing. Here the main character finds his way in the setting, tries out a lot and experiments with the sudden freedom. Watching it is so much fun.
