Infinite Warfare canceled extinction mode

The former developers of Call of Duty made statements on Twitter about the extinction mode removed from Infinite Warfare.

Infinity Ward decided to make some changes in the series with Call of Duty: Ghost, which was released in 2013. This decision was to leave the Spec Ops co-op structure of the Modern Warfare series and do something a little more like a zombie mode. This is how Extinction mod was born. Extinction is a game mode based on clearing the territory occupied by ancient aliens called the Cryptids, which existed long before the dinosaurs.

In the zombie mode we are familiar with, the map had a round structure. In Extinction mode, the map is large and vertical. Even though it didn’t make as much noise as the zombie mode, it had a unique audience. Now, according to a new information, there could be such a mode in Infinite Warfere, but the studio did not take kindly to this idea.

Infinity Ward doesn’t take kindly to the idea of space.

Brian Bright and Lee Ross, former developers of Call of Duty, recently posted on Twitter for the Extinction 2 mod. they talked about. They said that the developed mode includes real-time strategy mechanics and has a mechanic very similar to Fortnite’s base building mechanics. Apart from these, a video that was prepared but never published was mentioned.

It would probably be an advertisement for the mod, but when the idea was shelved, it never reached us players. As the reason Extintion 2 was shelved, Bright cited the studio’s concerns about launching the series into space. Bright also underlined that if this mode was continued, Infinity Warfare’s very popular zombie mode would not exist at all.
