Police warnings on a thoroughfare southwest of Toronto came after a truck dropped several pallets of beehives and about five million bees flew around the area early Wednesday morning.
– It was a sight, says Ryan Anderson, the police officer who was first on the scene to the AP.
Beekeepers were called to the scene
It took an hour from the police alarm until the beekeepers got in touch and were able to help.
– There were beehives just everywhere and swarms of bees flying about in the air. The first beekeepers who came here apparently got stung a few times, says Ryan Anderson.
Another two hours later, the vast majority of the bees had been collected and the hives picked up.
