On TV: Vin Diesel infuriated sci-fi director while filming

Director Mathieu Kassovitz had been working for several years before filming began to bring the sci-fi story about a taciturn mercenary and his protégé (Mélanie Thierry) to the big screen. Finally he got the money together, 20th Century Fox wanted to produce the film and signed a star with Diesel for the leading role.

However, the shoot turned out to be a disaster. As implied in the documentary Fucking Kassovitz, the director feuded with the studio over budget, time and content. A report by Page 6 suggests that Diesel torpedoed filming with excessive delays, greatly angering Kassovitz. In a conversation with SoFilm who referred to him years later as “show off“, the “not capable of anything“.
