France’s Indo-Pacific strategy is at the heart of Emmanuel Macron’s participation in the summit of the Forum for Economic Cooperation for Asia-Pacific (Apec) which is being held in Bangkok and which comes to close an important diplomatic sequence in the region after an ASEAN meeting last week and the G20 in Bali on Tuesday and Wednesday 16 November. The French president is also the first European leader to be invited to an Apec summit, a gesture in which he therefore wants to see a sign.
