It was in June that the US Supreme Court lifted the constitutionally protected right to abortion.
Despite major protests from the population, Indiana is the first state to restrict abortion rights, as the abortion ban comes into effect on September 12.
The ban means, among other things, that doctors who perform abortions immediately lose their medical credentials.
