Indian special forces killed several rebels Brief news

Indian special forces soldiers killed at least eight Maoist rebels in a dense jungle in Central India on Saturday.

The shooting began early on Saturday in the state of Chhattisgarh in forest areas, which are considered the core of the rebels.

Maoist rebels are also known as Naxalites.

They are an impressive revolutionary communist movement in India that has been influenced by the Chinese Communist Party chairman Mao Zedong ideology.

Naxalites have rebelled since 1967. For decades, at least 10,000 people have died in rebellion.

This year, the Indian security authorities have killed at least 287 people in clashes.
