Indian counter-attack after BBC raids

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Statements come since Indian authorities have recently on several occasions searched the British BBC’s offices in the country.

“The critics engage in scaremongering, have an outdated Euro-Atlantic view of democracy and do not respect the democratic choice of the Indian people,” Jaishankar said during a visit to Sydney.

The BBC has recently broadcast a documentary that contains criticism of the country’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He is accused in the film of persuading the police not to intervene during anti-Muslim riots in the state of Gujarat in 2002, where he was then governor. Over 11,000 people were killed in the riots.

The documentary has not aired in India, but the government has stopped videos and tweets sharing links to the film
