India: wastewater treatment, a priority for the inhabitants

India wastewater treatment a priority for the inhabitants

In India, of the 72 billion liters of wastewater generated every day in urban centers, 45 billion, or the equivalent of 18,000 Olympic swimming pools, are not treated. These are the figures announced by the government for 2020-2021. This untreated water, added to huge volumes of industrial effluents, causes diseases, pollutes waterways, kills fauna and flora and seeps into groundwater.
