Independent Karelia as Finland’s neighbor? Reporter Antti Kurra explains why the idea is really unlikely

Independent Karelia as Finlands neighbor Reporter Antti Kurra explains why

Journalist Antti Kurra summarizes in a video what experts think about the possibility of Russia’s disintegration.

A group of activists across Russia believe that Russia will break up into dozens of different states. Among others, the Union of Free Peoples of Russia speaks in favor of fragmentation.

It has brought together Russian opposition forces and parties that demand independence or at least greater self-government for their own regions.

The American think tank Atlantic Council estimates in its reports published at the beginning of the year that Russia will not survive the next ten years.

In The Global Foresight 2023 survey, 167 experts were asked, among other things, which countries could be internally destroyed by 2033. 40% of the experts answered Russia.

However, 55% of the respondents were of the opinion that none of the mentioned countries would break up.

Also the director of the Alexander Institute Markku Kangaspuro and Program Director of the Foreign Policy Institute Arkady Moshes say that they do not believe in the disintegration of Russia.

– The war weakens Russia, but that does not mean that it will become weak, Moshes states.
