Indecent act reported on Chatham school lot: police

The public’s help is being sought after a man reportedly committed an indecent act at a Chatham school property, Chatham-Kent police say.

The alleged incident occurred at 79 Eugenie St., site of Queen Elizabeth II elementary school, between 8:30 and 9:30 pm Tuesday, police said.

The school was closed, no children were present and investigators believed the man was alone at the time, police said.

The suspect is described as a male aged 20 to 40, last seen wearing a long-sleeve shirt, pants, dark-colored shoes with a white or light-colored sole and a dark backpack, police said. He was riding a mountain bike.

Police urge area residents to review home surveillance systems and share any footage they believe shows the suspect in the area.

Door broken in Wallaceburg break-in

Chatham-Kent police are investigating a Wallaceburg store break-in.

Officers called to the Margaret Avenue business at 5:30 am Wednesday learned the front door had been broken about 4:20 am and various items taken.
