In the city of Tepeyahualco, located in the Mexican state of Puebla, a group of about 100 people organized a protest on the grounds that the municipal authorities did not sufficiently intervene in the forest fire in the region.
GROUP OF 30 MISSED
The protesters gathered in front of the city hall and demanded an explanation from the authorities, expressing that the fire, which caused destruction in a large area in the region, was not intervened for a long time. Hours later, the Mayor of Tepeyahualco, Monica Martinez, and some city councilors came to the city hall to meet with the protesters. When the authorities failed to reach an agreement during the meeting with the public, a group of 30 people kidnapped Mayor Monica Martinez and city council members from among the protesters.
OPERATION WILL BE ORGANIZED
Demanding the resignation of the mayor and other officials, the protesters threatened to burn them to death if their demands were not met. Puebla State Interior Minister Julio Roberto Gomez said in a statement that the Puebla state police will carry out an operation in the city of Tepeyahualco and the kidnapped officials will be rescued.
