Increased OB compensation for assistant nurses in Skellefteå – no extra for shared tours

In kroner and ören, an increase of 20 percent would on average give 700 kroner more before tax every month. But that is if the compensation is actually increased by 20 percent, because it is up to the social welfare board to decide exactly how big the increase will be.

At the same time, a decision was made not to introduce an extra deposit for split tours, where staff, for example, work in the morning, are off during the day and work again the same evening.

– We have had a dialogue with the trade unions and it is based on their condition that we have arrived at OB being the most prioritized compensation for employees. If we were to give compensation for shared tours, we risk that more people will choose to work shared tours, we do not want to encourage that in the long term, it is not a working environment you want, says the chair of the personnel board, Evelina Fahlesson (S).

Criticized by the opposition

The opposition councilor in Skellefteå municipality, Andreas Löwenhöök (M), believes the social committee has failed in its mission to eliminate shared tours.

– We want to continue working on getting rid of shared trips, but it is only right to compensate the workers with an extra allowance until then, he says and continues:

– The political majority has chosen to prioritize other things, such as the OB compensation, which we did not oppose, but compensation for shared trips hits a specific group that suffers from work shifts with long leisure time in between.
