Increased confidence among export companies – but the krona worries

Facts: About the survey

The export credit barometer is carried out by Swedish Export Credit (SEK).

The survey is a temperature gauge on the Swedish export industry. The barometer reports on the export companies’ financial situation, export order intake, employment plans and the view of the interest rate and krone situation.

The spring telephone interviews were conducted during the period 3 April–4 May. The surveyed companies have an export volume of at least SEK 25 million and an export share of at least 50 percent.

In addition, fewer companies believe in higher interest rates – a large percentage even believe that interest rate increases have reached their peak.

The survey also shows a change in attitude regarding the weak krone exchange rate, which can sometimes be a competitive advantage for export companies.

But now fewer of the large companies, five out of ten (54 percent), state that a weakened krona is to their advantage, which can be compared with six out of ten (62 percent) in the autumn survey.
