Increase in streptococcal infections in Västerbotten – strep throat and pertussis spread in preschools: “Disturbing”

The spread of streptococci has increased during the spring in the county. A-streptococcus can cause, among other things, scarlet fever, strep throat and coccyx. At preschools in Västerbotten, many children have suffered from coccyx. The symptoms of colic are redness around the anus and itchy blisters.

– They are children in diapers and you see it when you change diapers. Small children usually don’t get strep throat, but this way instead, says Gunilla Persson, assistant infectious disease doctor.

Most of the time, small children are fine despite coccyx, but if the child has a high fever and a rose rash on the skin, he should be treated with penicillin.
