Inclusion flag stolen from St Michael Catholic secondary school

The Stratford Police Service is looking for the public’s help after a flag promoting inclusion was stolen from St. Michael Catholic secondary school late Monday night.

According to video surveillance, three suspects in a white extended cab pick-up truck with a sun roof parked on Bell Court shortly after 11:30 pm The suspects went to the front of the school on foot and reportedly cut the flag from the pole at approximately 12 am before they returned to the truck and left the area at 12:13 am

The flag was personalized for the Huron Perth Catholic district school board with the words, “We Are Wonderfully Made.” It had been raised in front of the school on Oakdale Avenue and was to be flown throughout June for Pride month.

St. Mike’s officials notified Stratford police of the theft Tuesday morning.

The truck was last seen headed west on Short Street from Matilda Street. While police originally said they believed the same truck was in the front of the school Monday at 8:14 pm prior to the theft, they have since confirmed it was not the same vehicle. In a Thursday release, police provided a more detailed description of the suspect vehicle, which is believed to be a 2007 to 2013 Chevrolet pickup with an extended cab, a long box and roof lights.
