Two serious incidents at the crisis-hit Northvolt cause the Swedish Work Environment Authority to demand an investigation, writes Norran.

According to the newspaper, both events occurred on December 18 at the battery manufacturer’s facility in Skellefteå. In one case, the toxic chemical N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, NMP, was discovered on the work clothes of some of the staff.

The toxic chemical, which can damage the airways and cause caustic damage, was discovered on staff in the personnel lock out of the premises.

The second case concerns an employee who was about to fall through a hatch, which was open, even though it should have been self-closing. The employee escaped a fall, but suffered a rib injury, according to Norran.

– The incident has been reported to the Work Environment Agency and we are investigating it in accordance with our procedures. The second incident is also under investigation in accordance with our routine, says Northvolt’s communications manager Matti Kataja to Norran.
