In WoW, the game’s most powerful weapon suddenly rains down a hundredfold from the sky

Frostmourne for everyone. That must have been the motto in WoW when the Lich King’s weapon suddenly fell from the sky on a realm.

In the history of World of Warcraft there is hardly a weapon as famous and notorious as Frostmourne. The Blade of the Lich King played a major role in Warcraft III and was also a central focus of the storyline during the WoW expansion “Wrath of the Lich King”.

Still, the heroes could never properly put their hands on weapons. She was splintered at the end of WotLK. Some shards later became artifact weapons, while others were locked away.

And then there are the hundreds of copies of Frostmourne lying around on different realms throughout Orgrimmar.

What has happened there? On the WoW: Wrath of the Lich King Classic realm “Arugal”, players in Orgrimmar recently experienced something strange. In the large square in front of the auction house, where the corpses of bots are usually piled up, the Lich King’s weapon suddenly rained down from the sky – and not once, but dozens of times.

The whole ground was covered with Frostmourne, but already in their partially destroyed variant.

How does this work? How exactly this error comes about is not entirely clear. Some believe in a simple bug in the game that just led to it.

What is clear, however, is that exactly this incident also occurred in 2011 during the “Cataclysm” expansion. They also provided the floor with nice “decoration” – which makes it quite clear that it was obviously created on purpose:

There also seems to be a theory that a modified DLL file allowed a player to use the “spell” that summons the broken part of Frostmourne in the fight against Arthas in Icecrown Citadel. In that case, this Frostmourne rain would almost certainly be due to hacking and should sooner or later lead to a hefty account penalty or even the complete blocking of the account.

Have you also experienced a “Frostmourne rain” on your realm?
