Once there, they learn of Spock’s true motives: he wants to achieve the impossible and reunite the Vulcan and Romulan cultures that have been torn apart for 2,000 years.

Guest star Leonard Nimoy is said to have initially rejected several episode ideas before coming up with the concept together with the authors Rick Berman and Michael Piller.
