“In the worst case, there could be deaths”

The Swedish Customs Service is now warning of potentially dangerous items that are sold online.

“In the worst case, there could even be deaths,” says an operational expert Per Holgersson at the Customs Office to The evening paper.

These include, among other things, copied mobile phone chargers that can explode and children’s toys that may contain loose parts or contain excessively high levels of chemicals.

Jewelery has also been found in the Chemicals Inspectorate’s analyzes to contain excessively high levels of lead and cadmium.

More interventions than last year

The number of interventions against dangerous products in Sweden has increased to 192 this year, compared to 121 last year. The number of interventions against counterfeit articles has increased sharply, from last year’s roughly 18,000 to more than 72,000 this year.
