In the United States, the Chiefs win the Super Bowl at the finish under the gaze of Taylor Swift

In the United States the Chiefs win the Super Bowl

In the United States, this Sunday, February 10, the final of the Super Bowl, an American football match, took place. A hotly contested match between the defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco Forty Niners (49ers). And it was the Chiefs who won for the second year in a row, 25 to 22 in added time. Regularly shown by the cameras, singer Taylor Swift was present in the stands of Allegiant Stadium to encourage Travis Kelce, her companion and charismatic Chiefs player.

This is the first time that a franchise has retained its trophy since the New England Patriots in 2004. The NFL grand final offered intense suspense, for a final victory for the Chiefs, the third in five years after 2020, already facing to the 49ers, and 2023.And, as usual, the grand final of the Super Bowl kept its promises of a popular celebration, says our correspondent in the United States, Loubna Anaki. Moment of communion for Americans, in the stadium, but also in front of their televisions. Every year, more than 110 million people watch this final which lasts more than 3 hours. As usual, there were the traditional and numerous advertisements.

Sleek choreography and surprise guests

The 49ers struck first with a touch down by McCaffrey, and led 10 to 3 at halftime, when American crooner Usher ignited the stadium by revisiting his hits with a show with slick choreography. Some surprise guests punctuated the show, like Alicia Keys and the rapper Ludacris.

The other star of this final was of course Taylor Swift who was there to support her companion from the Kansas Chiefs, Travis Kelce. The 34-year-old star jumped on a jet directly after a concert in Tokyo on Saturday evening, from his lucrative “Eras tour”, to reach the gaming city, where the Super Bowl was played for the first time.

Everything but politics after all

The presence of the global megastar panicked the country for weeks, between Swift fans who were just waiting for it and the less fans, the ultra-conservative circles who accuse the singer of being in the pay of the Democrats. But, unsurprisingly, none of their conspiracy predictions came true. Ultimately, this final was anything but political: the Chiefs came back in the 3rd quarter, then equalized on foot three seconds from time to snatch overtime and finally win 25 to 22 in added time.
