In the SM league the late Janne Puhakka is remembered

Five matches will be played in the domestic ice hockey league today.

Ex-hockey player Janne Puhakka29, died as a victim of a homicide in Espoo’s Henttaa on Sunday, October 13.

The SM League told Urheilu that a moment of silence will be held at each of the five game venues on Wednesday in memory of the deceased Janne Puhaka.

In the league, Puhakka represented Espoo Blues in the 2015-16 season. During his career, he also played in France and Canada.

Kiekko-Espoo, the successor team of the Blues, will play its own match against Ässi in Pori today.

Puhakka was a great role model for athletes belonging to sexual minorities. He was the first ice hockey player who played in the SM league to openly talk about his homosexuality.

Wednesday’s league matches:

HIFK – TPS at 18:30

Jukurit – Lock at 6:30 p.m

KalPa – HPK at 18:30

Sport – KooKoo at 18:30

Aces – Kiekko-Espoo at 18:30

The ice hockey round is heard on Wednesdays on Radio Finland and on Fridays and Saturdays in Areena.
