In the MMORPG Tarisland the cheaters are finally banned, but the community demands more

Cheaters are a big problem in MMORPGs. They are particularly annoying in Tarisland because many of the endgame activities are linked to leaderboards where cheaters can jump to the top. The developers of the MMORPG have now reacted, but the community is still not happy.

What’s the deal with the cheaters in Tarisland? In Tarisland, there have been complaints from players in the community for weeks about cheaters who are said to be gaining unfair advantages through third-party software. This is particularly problematic because there are many leaderboards in Tarisland that are also linked to rewards for players.

Be it in the PvP arena, where players who create an advantage with cheats receive higher rewards because they reach a higher ranking, or in PvE, where they can also receive real money currency in numerous competitions organized by the developers.

Developers take care of the cheaters

How did the developers react to the cheaters? The developers initially announced investigations (via Discord). On August 27th, a wave of bans followed, which kicked the cheaters reported and convicted by the community out of the game. However, apart from one prominent cheater, all others were only banned for 3 days.

Although the developers announced that if players violated the rules again they would lose access to their account forever, the punishment caused discontent among the players.

What bothers the players? The players believe that the punishment is far too lenient, as the cheaters are ultimately taking away their chance of placing in the events. A ban for three days is far too little. In addition, the developers’ statement does not say whether the cheaters will be excluded from the rankings.

User @varietymmos writes on Discord: “This is the worst way to handle this. I will not let this go. Cheaters deserve perm bans. This 3 day bs is unacceptable.”

@kharlan on Discord also thinks: “It’s unfair to other players and it’s UNACCEPTABLE!!”

@swampporo also expressed his disappointment on Discord: “So they didn’t impose permanent bans on cheaters and didn’t ban the obvious ones either, it’s impossible that they are treating this issue with such disappointment.”

The developers publish a statement

What do the developers say about the mood of the community? The developers of the MMORPG Tarisland have released a statement in which they respond to the criticism of the bans.

We have heard your feedback. This penalty is based on players’ in-game behavior, but does not mean that we will tolerate such cheating activities. We hope that the 3-day ban will serve as a warning to players and encourage them not to make similar mistakes again.

We will increase monitoring of in-game activity and pay more attention to player reports. If anyone is caught using cheats later, we will immediately impose a permanent ban. […]

It remains to be seen whether the developers will be able to control the situation and keep their MMORPG free of cheaters. That is something all players would probably wish for, especially since the game places a lot of importance on the aforementioned rankings.

For casual players who are not fighting for places on the rankings, the MMORPG will probably not continue until autumn. That’s when the next season, “Blight Dragon Elegy,” starts and brings a breath of fresh air to the game.
