In the middle of the streaming jungle, the mk2 production company is launching m2 Curiosity, a paid platform, but without an algorithm, offering a weekly selection capable of appealing to film lovers. A real online film club!

With the proliferation of streaming platforms, users no longer know where to turn, between the behemoths like Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video, but also newcomers who have a fairly extensive catalog like Paramount+ and Universal+ – the first arrived in France in December with fairly low prices, the second is expected soon. Consequence: the content is more and more scattered, and you have to pay more and more to access the desired programs. And this abundance of content is not necessarily a good thing! We no longer count the number of evenings spent looking for a film to end up watching nothing. The excess of choice can harm curiosity because, by thinking we are looking for the little pearl, we end up getting lost.

A new streaming platform, Mk2 Curiositycomes with an offer “unique in the world”, paid but without any algorithm or dozens of pages to scroll through. To get out of the game, the production company is offering, from March 9, a renewed and limited selection of films to watch each week. “mk2 Curiosity is a counter-current proposal to current offers that fits on a single page, changes very regularly, mixes free and paid, and is closer to a news site than a classic platform”she explains in his press releasedescribing its platform as a “real online movie club”.

mk2 Curiosity: a selection by or for enthusiasts

mk2 Curiosity offers 400 documentaries, short films and films, old and new, from the mk2 catalog but also from independent distributors “such as Carlotta, Art House, UniversCiné and many others, which will enrich the selections week after week, making it possible to create or support events and cinephile news”. The objective will be to highlight productions in order to rediscover the world of cinema through editorial selections, by author, by theme or by actors. The goal is really to value the human instead of the algorithms.

The group claims more than one million unique visitors on its platform for three years. It already offered a free formula with three films renewed each week. From now on, the service offers a subscription formula at €2.99/month until June 1, then at €5.99/month, or at €29.99/year until June 1, then at 59, €99/year. The platform is compatible with Chromecast and AirPlay, and is also available on iOS, Android, Apple TV and Android TV stores. Currently, she is honoring the sketch film by John Landis Hamburger Movie Sandwichbut also alien invasion (Kiyoshi Kurosawa) Dumbland (David Lynch) Senses (Ryuusuke Hamaguchi), Among us (Clement Cogitore), The Crocodile of Death (Tobe Hooper) Happiness (Agnès Varda) or even Like Someone in Love (Abbas Kiarostami). Something to delight budding cinephiles!
