In keeping with the 50th anniversary of the James Bond series, director Sam Mendes and leading actor Daniel Craig delivered a real brilliant performance with James Bond 007 – Skyfall. The third mission of the Craig era delves even deeper into the psyche of the spy and, thanks to camera legend Roger Deakins, delivers probably the best Bond pictures of the entire franchise.
Things didn’t go so smoothly behind the scenes on the secret agent’s anniversary mission. A pair of gloves caused almost a million damage.
Daniel Craig was keen to wear gloves in Skyfall – which then had to be removed
In 2016, British journalist and filmmaker Charlie Lyne shared two videos on Twitter detailing a set anecdote from the Skyfall shoot. Since the story is said to have been told to him at a party by an employee, the source should still be treated with caution. Nevertheless, the story is too bizarre to withhold from you.
At this point you will find external content from Twitter, which complements the article. You can show it and hide it again with one click.
During the breaks in filming, Daniel Craig is said to have enjoyed going shopping, and one day he bought a fancy pair of leather gloves. Before filming, star director Sam Mendes then suggested that Bond wear the chic accessory in the Macau casino scene. Mendes is said to have been stressed and just waved the idea through without giving it much thought.
The problem with that was that Craig, as Bond, then wore the gloves in a Skyfall scene where a gun fired only with the spy’s fingerprint can be. But since he’s wearing gloves here, the scene wouldn’t make any sense anymore. Someone in the editing room noticed the mistake and panic broke out for a moment.

A reshoot of the scene would have cost several million dollars, which would have blown the already high budget. Craig’s hands were therefore digitally freed from the gloves. That brings back nostalgic memories of Henry Cavill’s mustache in the Justice League reshoots…
