In Gabon, the health pass is no longer mandatory to access public places and the Covid-19 test is once again free. The measures that entered into force last Wednesday are now suspended following the referral to the Constitutional Court by activists from the Citizen Citizen Observatory Covid-19 (Copil). According to the law, as soon as a decision is contested in the Constitutional Court, its application is suspended pending the decision of the Court which has 45 days to rule.

“This decree violates our freedoms “
Geoffroy Foumboula Libeka Makosso, of the citizens’ movement, which appealed to the Constitutional Court, asks the government to listen to the Gabonese: ” Gabon does not have a Covid-19 land title to maintain its population in this state continuously for two years. This decree violates all of our freedoms “.
In a statement on Saturday evening, the Minister of the Interior informed the population that all the measures that entered into force on December 15 are suspended pending the decision of the Constitutional Court. But some measures taken previously remain in force, such as the curfew at 9 p.m. and wearing a compulsory mask.
