Women’s United Norway Gyda Westvold Hansen won the last World Cup race of the season. He also won the World Cup overall.
In the competition, attention was drawn to the faces of the athletes.
The athletes had drawn a “beard”. With their seizure, the athletes took a stand on the fact that the International Olympic Committee has still not included women in the program of the Winter Olympics.
Men’s combined, on the other hand, will be an Olympic sport at the next Winter Games in Milan in 2026.
– We have beards now, so we are men, Minja Korhonen was joking.
The athletes showed their opinion even before the competition. They crossed the sticks above their heads.
– This was our little demonstration. With this, we are trying to advertise the fact that when we have a beard and mustache, we belong to the men and we too have a chance to participate in the 2026 Olympics.
A year of getting used to it
Korhonen was 17th in the final race.
– The skiing part was a bit disappointing. Now is clearly the time for a break.
Korhonen was able to tour the World Cup diligently. He also competed in the World Championships in Planica.
– This has been a year of getting used to. Sometimes there have been quite good competitions.
Korhonen is trying to get closer to the top of the sport next.
– Mäkipuoli needs to get in better shape. Skiing comes along well, so you don’t have to worry about it. You have to leave with a relaxed feeling. Then it’s usually good.
