In the building game on Steam, your city constantly wanders around

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The Wandering Village is a building game on Steam where you build your settlement on the back of a colossus. The Earl Access title has 90% positive comments and is 20% off through tonight.

The Wandering Village is a game by the indie studio Stray Fawn Studio, a ten-strong team in Switzerland that focuses primarily on the simulation genre.

The title is a city building simulator with a special spin: Instead of building your small settlement in a fixed place as usual, the scene here is the back of a mighty creature.

You not only take care of the development of the city and the well-being of the residents, but also take care of your giant pet.

The Wandering Village entered Early Access on Steam on September 14, 2022. It is expected to be a year or more before it has its full release. However, it is already popular with the players.

The game is verified for the Steam Deck and works very well there.

What is the gameplay like in The Wandering Village? Strange plants with poisonous spores have spread across the earth, forcing a group of settlers to flee their homes.

You will now find a new location on the back of the creature “Onbu”. Since then, there has been a symbiosis between the humans and the wandering colossus, with both parties caring for each other in hopes of finding a safe place to settle.

You are responsible for developing the village: erect buildings and plant food to feed your residents. In addition, you keep sending out squads that go in search of rare resources.

You also take care of researching the technologies from the time before the world became a post-apocalyptic environment. However, you must be careful how you use the inventions – progress can sometimes also hurt.

Not only do you care about the well-being of the village, you also care about Onbu. Make sure your oversized pet is comfortable and able to keep moving to escape the poisonous spores.

Slowly you also develop a relationship with the giant, so that it listens to your commands and you have influence over its actions. For example, you can send a team of settlers to pet Onbu on the head like an oversized dog to gain his trust.

You will encounter different biomes with your walking city and have to strategically survive one or the other event. Every decision you make in the game has an effect on your settlement or the Colossus.

The game was already one of the highlights of the MeinMMO team at gamescom 2022.

  • SPUD: “A great game with an intriguing concept and management. I wish they would add a campaign storyline at some point, but even what’s there now provides some solid hours of enjoyable gameplay.”
  • moongaze 1: “It’s a great game so far and I’m enjoying playing it. I hope more updates will come soon”.
  • MoritzSHRD: “A very relaxed and beautiful development game, with a wonderful atmosphere”.
