In Switzerland Afghan cyclists relish competition and freedom

A somewhat special race took place in Switzerland, in Aigle, at the headquarters of the International Cycling Union, this Sunday, October 23. Fifty participants took part in the Afghanistan Women’s Cycling Championship.

This event was a first since the Taliban took over Kabul in August 2021. Afghan women from all over the world gathered at the foot of the Swiss mountains. They have rediscovered the scent of asphalt, and that of freedom.
