Gang crime has existed in Sweden for a long time, but in recent years the situation has escalated. Especially in Stockholm, the situation is dire.
In the capital region, two gangs in particular are said to be fighting for the control of drug-trafficking areas. Gangs commit bombings and other acts of violence to intimidate one side and to avenge the actions of the other side.
At the same time, there are many other criminal gangs in Sweden that have mutual clashes.
In Sweden, on the other hand, it has also succeeded in getting the problems caused by gang violence under control in some places. Just half a year ago, Malmö was the center of gang violence in Sweden. Recently, the situation there has calmed down, when the police caught the crime bosses thanks to international cooperation.
However, the crime vacuum created in Malmö is believed to be filled soon.
