In Sudan fighting intensifies on all fronts

In Sudan, intensive bombing and fighting took place on several fronts. In Khartoum, clashes have resumed with a vengeance. Like in al-Fasher or in the state of al-Jazirah in the center of the country, where a new massacre was committed by General Hemedti’s Rapid Support Forces (FSR).

According to the resistance committee of Omdurman, a town separated from Khartoum by a river, the paramilitaries of the Rapid Support Forces (FSR), at war against the Sudanese army since April 15, 2023, carried out a series of attacks leaving 40 dead and 50 civilians injured.

Recently recaptured by the army, Omdurman was the target of intense artillery fire from the RSF who also, using six drones, attacked the Wadi Sydna military base in Karari, a district of Omdurman. Attacks which failed to move the front lines.

According to the army, another drone was shot down, over White Nile state, before it could launch its payload.

On the front of al-Facher, capital of North Darfur and where fighting has raged for several weeks, rapid support forces continue to amass more forces north of the city. This neighborhood was also targeted Friday morning by 19 army airstrikes. Witnesses counted 30 civilian victims, the majority of whom were women and children.

In the center of the country, in the state of al-Jazirah, the day after a fatal attack targeting the village of Wad al-Noura, causing at least 180 casualties, the Rapid Support Forces attacked the village again, while the majority of residents had fled. In this region, the army is seriously lacking in men and is trying to rely on local military formations, which, in the opinion of several political parties, complicates the fight and further aggravates the situation.

The IOM estimates the number of internally displaced people in Sudan at nearly 10 million.
