In Star Wars Outlaws you finally don’t play a Jedi, but a charming thief

Ubisoft will release the first open-world game in the Star Wars universe in 2024. But instead of a Jedi, this time you embody the outlaw Kay Vess.

What kind of game is this?

  • Star Wars: Outlaws known for Far Cry 3 and The Division 1 and 2 is an upcoming game from Ubisoft’s development studio Massive Entertainment. Additionally, Massive is currently working on Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.

Who do you play in Star Wars Outlaws? Unlike EA and Respawn Entertainment’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Outlaws doesn’t cast you as Cal Kestis or any other Jedi.

In Star Wars Outlaws you play Kay Vess, an outlaw trying to survive somehow and looking for work. Kay realizes that she’s starting to like the ways of the underworld, but she also has a bounty on her head.

Kay is played by actress Humberly González, who describes her character as “charming”: “Kay Vess is a thief, she’s a villain, she’s really good at sneaking around. You know she’s charming and loves to talk to you, but she’s already stealing all your stuff. She’s not perfect at it, but she always seems to get away with it.”

Nix also plays a special role in Kay’s life. This is an extraterrestrial being and the only real companion Kay has on her journey.

Will Kay follow in Han Solo’s footsteps? Game director Mathias Karlson and narrative director Navid Khavari also spoke to the online magazine gamespot.com about comparing Kay Vess to Han Solo.

Khavari says that Kay hasn’t fully understood the life of the underworld and doesn’t yet know the various criminal organizations and syndicates. According to Khavari, this distinguishes them from Han Solo and Chewbacca, where you notice “that it’s not their first rodeo”.

Kay is yet to make a name for herself in the galaxy, and the game’s story will tell where her journey takes her.
