In Senegal, the collaboration between the Société des Brasseries de l’Ouest Africain (Soboa) and Coca Cola is over. From July 1, Castel’s Senegalese subsidiary will no longer bottle the American giant’s sodas. The logical continuation of the divorce announced between Coca Cola and Castel in most African countries where the French group is established.

After 49 years of collaboration with Coca Cola, the partnership is coming to an end. from a common agreement according to a press release from Soboa. From July 1, the company will therefore cease its production and marketing of sodas of the brand: Coca Cola, Fanta, Sprite and Schweppes.
As in Ivory Coast with the Solibra brewer, or in Burkina Faso with Brakina, it’s a page that turns for Soboa. It is also a shortfall for the company, which employs around 340 people and contributes 15 billion CFA francs to the state budget.
Soboa relies on its other products
But the company says it can rely on its other products – the Gazelle, Top or even Vimto. It is also betting on the new brand of cola – World Cola – launched by Castel. It announces the enrichment of its range ” with pan-African and international brands in the next few weeks “.
” Soboa lived before Coca Cola and will live after ” assures a specialist in the sector. It is the group IBS – Industries des Boissons du Senegal which will take over the bottling of the products of the American juggernaut.
