The Russian priest who prayed for peace will now face a church court.

Vicar from Moscow Alexey Uminsky faces a church court because he refused to read a prayer for the invasion of Russia.

Uminski was removed from his post because of his anti-war statements

– I pray for peace, I pray that this ends as soon as possible and that as few as possible are injured, the vicar had said in an interview.

After the interview, Uminski was banned from leading religious services, Russian opposition media reported Medusa and Dožd citing his sources.

The Moscow Diocese did not confirm the allegations of the vicar’s dismissal.

To Telegram however, the leaked document reveals that after the interview, Patriarch Kirill issued a decree banning Uminski from conducting the service.

The document does not state the reason for the decision.

The church court will decide on Uminski’s future
