More than 44,000 abortions have been carried out clandestinely in Poland thanks to the association Aborcja Bez Granic (Abortion without borders, in French). Voluntary termination of pregnancy became almost illegal there two years ago.

They are 44,000 to have benefited from this aid and have had access to a safe abortion. That’s 10,000 more compared to 2021. Aborcja Bez Granic sends abortion pills to those who ask for them and, when necessary, facilitates treatment by a foreign clinic for voluntary termination of pregnancy.
Because for two years, have an abortion in poland is almost impossible. The cases to have the right are so restrictive, that this year, they are less than a hundred to have resorted to an abortion in a hospital of the country, according to the ministry of Health.
Between 100,000 and 200,000 abortions per year
For the association, these statistics show how urgent it is to legalize abortion in the country. If the association helps 44,000 people to have an abortion, they are surely many more to have recourse to it, apart from all the official figures. Often in dangerous conditions.
Especially since the beginning of the war in Ukraine. Some 1,500 Ukrainian women who had taken refuge in Poland asked for help from the association to be able to abort. In all, they would be between 100,000 and 200,000 to have recourse to an abortion each year, despite the decision of the Constitutional Court.
