The organizers have had to rely on the artificial snow stock produced last year, because there is not enough real snow.
The Hill Jumping World Cup season starts for both men and women next weekend in Lillehammer, Norway.
It has not yet snowed naturally at the race site, and the weather is not cold enough to use snow cannons. Because of this, the organizer has had to come up with another way to produce snow at the competition venue.
NRKAccording to
– The old snow has been our guarantee if it turns out that we need it. Now it happened that it was helpful, a Norwegian-Finnish working as a project manager Mikko Kokslien tells.
– We have never filled the entire hill with old snow before, Kokslien reveals.
At the top of the hill, the snow is shot out through a long pipe, while at the bottom of the hill, the snow is pushed up with the help of a working machine.
The organizer’s goal is that the ski jumpers will be able to train on site right from the beginning of the week and that the opening of the World Cup season will go according to plan on the weekend.
