The successes are coming one after another at the cinema. In just four days, this French film, which has just been released in cinemas, has already exceeded one million admissions.

Is it because the good weather is slow to arrive that spectators are taking refuge in dark rooms? In any case, the weather is looking good for the cinema, which has just signed a record-breaking Fête du Cinéma with 4.65 million spectators who went to see a movie from June 30 to July 3, 2024.

And if A little something extra (8.4 million admissions to date according to boxofficepro) and Inside Out 2 (3.8 million since its release on June 19) have obviously benefited and continue to establish their status as the success of the year, a French film, released especially for this promotional holiday, has particularly stood out.

Released on June 28, this dramatic film has managed the feat of already attracting 1.1 million spectators in theaters in just four and a half days. It has thus already been able to benefit from good reviews and most likely the price of 5 euros per seat at the Fête du Cinéma to attract the curious. This film is The count of Monte Cristo.

Adaptation of the literary masterpiece by Alexandre Dumas, The count of Monte Cristo is directed by Alexandre De La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte, who also directed the film First name. As in the novel, the film follows the story of the young sailor Edmond Dantès, who arouses the jealousy of several men and finds himself accused of a crime he did not commit. Locked up in the Château d’If for 12 years, he manages to escape and sets his revenge in motion, hiding his identity under that of the wealthy and mysterious Count of Monte Cristo.

In the cast, this French film brings together big names from the French seventh art, with Pierre Niney in the lead who brilliantly plays the title role opposite Anamaria Vartolomei, Anaïs Demoustier, Vassili Schneider, Laurent Lafitte, Patrick Mille and Bastien Bouillon. Rated 3.5/5 by the press critics and 4.5/5 by spectators on Allociné, the great start of the Count of Monte Cristo version 2024 promises to be a great success in theaters in the coming weeks.
